Carbohydrates are organic compounds that serve as the main source of energy in the human body. Identification of the type of carbohydrate present in a sample is very important in various fields, such as the food industry, health, and biochemical research. In this study, carbohydrate identification tests were carried out using the Molisch Test, Benedict Test, and Seliwanoff Test for glucose, sucrose, lactose, fructose, and amylum samples. The test results showed that all samples contained carbohydrates based on the Molisch test. The Benedict test identified glucose, lactose, and fructose as reducing sugars, while sucrose and amylum showed no positive reaction. The Seliwanoff test distinguished fructose as a ketose and glucose as an aldose. From these results, it can be concluded that this chemical test is effective for identifying carbohydrate types and differentiating monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides.
